Fleur has been one of our favourite producers since popping up on the UK scene a few years back with Putes Feministes 2019 which went on to be crowned our wine of the year in 2020. Although only crossing the channel a relatively short time ago Fleur has been on the French natural wine scene for a few years now. In 2016, after a year traveling with her friend Justine Saint Lo, the two published "Pur Jus" (Pure Juice), a comic book about the natural wine producers they met along the way as well as another volume about winemaking.
With her wine-making project 'Vins et Volailles', she takes over and renames the family business, a poultry specialist farm based in the Dordogne, and started co-producing and distributing limited editions of incredible and unique natural wines. Each Wine and label is designed by Justine, and they use the opportunity to call out the overly patriarchal and misogynistic attitude of the wine industry and society at large.
Our Discover Fleur Godart pack includes her latest 3 releases, all unique, delicious, and wonderfully crafted
First up is Toutes Les Memes, a collaboration between Vins et Volailles and Jeux des Vins (Julien Albertus). Made from 10-day macerated Pinot Gris in maceration and a little bit of Gewurtztraminer and Sylvaner. Pomegranate molasses on the nose; basmati rice, lychee and feijoa on the palate. A wine to come back to!
Next up and brand new to the UK is Male Tears 2020. Made in collaboration with the legendary Julien Albertus of Domaine Kumpf et Meyer, this one is a blend of Riesling and Sylvaner with the fruit spending a few hours on skins in stainless steel tanks. Fresh, fruity, floral, and very mineral rich, with a salty finish, as you would expect from tears. Another wine with meaning and part of a series of wines to take a stance against sexism, racism, and homophobia called "Les Cuvées Militantes".
Last but by no means least is Putes Feministes which is made from a blend of Gewurztraminer and Muscat which have been macerated for 10 days, making for a nice, juicy but super light Orange wine bursting with tropical "Five Alive" citrus notes and just the right amount of acidity. An unbelievable wine with a great label and honestly one of the best wines we have EVER tried, period.
