A great wine here that shows what Viognier is capable of in the right hands. A light skin contact wine with loads of freshness and hazy aromas of honey blossom, peach, and roses. Approachable Orange wine, no mad funk here
Producer: Intellego Region: Swartland, South Africa Grapes: Viognier Style: Orange Size: 75cl Bottle

A very, very special wine here, and the first time it's been released in the UK. Alcoholic grapefruit juice was the overwhelming consensus in tasting with us picking up a bit of mandarin and pomegranate in there too. The Esotico is a hybrid red/orange made from ten different grape varieties and is so far without doubt one of the most exciting wines we've had so far in 2021.
NEW!Grapes grown and hand harvested in the Pflaz, Germany, then shipped by Renegade in refrigerated trucks at 2˚C direct to the London winery.
This wine was made by destemming the grapes over a wire mesh by hand. Essentially we rub the bunches and let the grapes drop through into the fermentation tank. We do this so as to be very gentle and reduce skin breakage. The grapes then start fermenting spontaneously, without the addition of any yeast - otherwise known as wild fermentation. Naturally present yeasts are already within the winery environment and on the grape skins. Think sourdough. No additions of sugar, nutrients, or de-acidification methods/any other winemaking was used to make this wine.
The grapes were detemmed and left to ferment in our Georgian Qvevri, essentially a large, amphora style vessel. After nearly 2 weeks on the grape skins, the juice/wine was pressed off and transfered to old French oak barrels to age and go through malolactic fermentation.
The wine was bottled unfiltered and unfined, with only very minimal additions of sulphur to help the wine age in bottle and minimise oxidation.
What’s the wine like? Well, as it’s completely unfiltered and unfined it’s very slightly hazy to look at in the glass. It's a stone fruity, citrus blossomy, fresh textured wine. It's unusual but not intimidating. Don't be too worried about the elongated skin contact, it's actually clean yet very complex. A wine that will evolve both in the bottle with age, or out of the bottle as it opens up in your glass.
Who is Charlie? He is a mysterious man. He works in cyber security. He lives in Mile End but we know he takes trips to the seaside as we've seen him out on the water! He was 42 when this wine was made. He likes his food and wine. He is a married man, so hands off all you potential suiters.
If anyone cares, this wine, like all Renegades wines, are vegan friendly. This does not mean they wave to vegans in the street, they are just made without the use of any animal based winemaking products.
SETE Alimento Orange is a skin-contact (orange) natural wine made from a blend of white grapes grown in Lazio, Central Italy. About 5 days of skin contact, aged in stainless steel. On the palate orange rind with a light body that made this a dangerously smashable bottle for us! Absolutely zero chemicals in the vineyards, no added sulfites, unfined, and unfiltered.
Putes Feministes (Translated to Feminist Whores) is a certified banger from French producer Fleur Godart. Made from a blend of Gewurztraminer and Muscat which have been macerated for 10 days, making for a nice, juicy but super light Orange wine bursting with tropical "Five Alive" citrus notes and just the right amount of acidity. An unbelievable wine with a great label and honestly one of the best wines we have EVER tried, period.
Producer: Fleur Godart Region: Alsace, France Grapes: Gewurztraminer, Muscat Style: Orange Size: 75cl bottle
Bianco Castagno is our personal fave out of the new releases from up and coming producer Trish aka Gazzetta. The Bianco Castagno is made from Procanico grapes that have been macerated for around a month before spending a year in old chestnut botti, which is native to Italy for centuries. On the nose "Ameretto" vibes with medium tannin and a 80's line of acidity.
Part two of the collab between legendary French maestro Patrick Bouju, young Greek winemaker Jason Ligas and Ochin Clovis (You may remember him from Action Bronson's hit VICE series "From Paris With Love").
The 'Palli & Genesia' takes organic Muscat Petit Grain from Platanos village, Greece, and whole bunch macerates them for 40 days before ageing in clay amphoras. The wine is fine, delicate and dry as a bone. As the others in the set there is intense minerality but in this case lots of honey characters but more floral than anything. Definitely decant if you can. In summary, a punchy wine but in cost and flavour it's a must try to experience the diversity of this collab project.

Grenache Blanc from 46 year old vines planted on gravel with lots of clay and silica. 2 months of very light maceration in whole bunches (Anto calls this trempette – dipped), it then spends 11 months on the heavy lees in cuve. Fresh, super minerally with pretty heavy herby tones running right through the wine.
Producer: La Sorga Region: Languedoc, France Grapes: Grenache Blanc Style: Orange Size: 75cl bottle
"SM" from La Sorga is a super special wine with the Marsanne and Sauvignon grapes of the Languedoc. macerated for over 35 days on the skins On the nose you're hit with aromas of orange wine: resin, sweet spices, dried fruit and ripe juicy apricot. The sip is super fresh, rich in flavour with light tannins. As with all La Sorga's this is 100% Natural and unfiltered.

This is one of Antony’s most stunning and expressive natural wines, a mind-numbingly delicious and vibrant orange wine from Languedoc Roussillon. It’s born from organically farmed old vines of mostly Grenache Blanc with a touch of Marsanne grown on clay-limestone soils, It ferments spontaneously with it's native yeasts in whole bunches and sees a skin contact of around 30-45 days in steel before elevage. Of course no intrusive and demeaning fining, filtration or added SO2. Fresh, intense and powerful: passionfruit curd with lemongrass tea, saffron and cloves honey. Juiced Recommends!
Producer: La Sorga Region: Languedoc, France Grapes: Grenache Blanc, Marsanne Style: Orange Size: 75cl bottle
Another absolute banger from the legend that is La Sorga. Chat Zen is an Orange/White wine made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chasan and Grenache Noir grapes. The wine is punchy with notes of exotic fruits, dried banana, and, uh curry! On the palate expect it to be rich, full, aromatic, with tension, length, and a complex finish. Do not decant.
Producer: La Sorga Region: Languedoc, France Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc, Chasan, Grenache Noir Style: Orange Size: 75cl bottle
One of our favourite labels of the year, this! Orange Mauzanic from producer Jean-Louis Pinto is made using the local grape variety, Mauzac, which is fermented on skins for over 50 days before ageing in acacia and oak barrels. The result is a truly unique and savoury orange wine with shed loads of exotic notes, smokey BBQ and fresh citrus, and stone fruits.
Es d'Aqui is the brainchild of Jean-Louis Pinto, a small artisanal producer based outside Limoux who works out of a tiny cellar underneath his family home. He is one of the countries' producers spearheading biodynamic farming, and has a minimal intervention approach in the winery with all wines made without temperature control or any added sulphur.
Another British banger from the Renegade squad! The Ara is a skin contact/orange kinda wine but with more of red wine style structure and palate weight to it. It is a really complex, unusual wine that's got notes of white pepper, cherry, vanilla, cloves, and a real wild strawberry-ness when it starts to develop.
Another new wine from Alex & Maria Koppitsch! Touch 2019 is a cuvée of a field blend and Welschriesling which makes for a delightfully easy Orange wine to drink: aromatic, light, andfun. The main feature of touch is its unusual yet familiar multivitaminjuice aroma, slightlyexoticand a tad creamy. The big white egret – that inspired the label often visits the vineyard right by the Neusiedl Lake.
Producer:Alex & Maria Koppitsch Region: Burgenland, Austria Grapes: Gemischter Satz/Field Blend, Welschriesling Style:Orange Size: 75cl Bottle

Absolute beauty here and a good entry wine for those who haven't indulged in a lot of Skin Contact wines. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented dry using the skins of the same wine from last year's harvest. Made from young vines of Procanico and Malvasia the end result is a rustic amber wine with plenty of citrus fruit, firm tannins and no shortage of energy. Nothing is added at any stage of the winemaking process, pure natty goodness.
The Le Coste duo are Clementine Bouveron and Gianmarco Antonuzzi who met in France while working for the guru Gerard Schueller in Alsace, France. The pair spent over 2years working with some of France’s most renowned producers before deciding to move back to Gianmarco’s village of Gradoli in Lazio’s north. Since moving back the pair have reinvigorated local grapes and are now making some of the most respected and original wines in the Natural Wine game.
A lightly orange wine, given a night on the skins. Made without intervention so there's no additives, no filtering (this is an intensely cloudy white), no fining and not even sulfur is added. Funky, earthy and retains a slight prickle from not being de-gassed and perhaps being allowed to finish the last of the fermentation in the bottle.
A brand new wine from Patrick Bouju!!! An ORANGE wine, light and flowery, with spice and reminiscent of pears, very fresh. A wine that confirms Patrick's extraordinary talent, able to vinify any grape variety and always use it to produce wines with a very unique character and style. BANGER!
