One of the most exquisite wines we have had the pleasure of sippin. Beguet's Silk Blue is a blend of 15% Trousseau, 5% Savagnin 75% Ploussard - super light, vibrant with red berry flavours and typical Jura electric acidity. A very special wine this

Patrice Béguet’s winery is located in Mesnay, a little village a stone’s throw from Arbois in the Les Planches-près-Arbois gorge. Patrice gave up a job as an IT Consultant in Paris, took the Wine Diploma at Beaune, and took over what has now grown to around four hectares of vines in Pupillin, Arbois, in his home village of Mesnay. He is committed to biodynamic methods, and is Demeter certified, quite unusual for such a small producer. In a region where biodynamics and natural winemaking are hardly a rarity, few are as committed to all aspects of ecology as Patrice, and few young vignerons work as hard as he does too.

One of the most recognisable producers out there, with a cult following addicted to their wines and labels. The Gut Oggau Family Reunion Rose 2016 is a very special wine, A rare limited edition bottling of Blaufrankisch and Zwiegelt from old and young vines which creates a much more profound and deeper Rose than Winifred. The colour is deep, light cherry, the nose pulls you in and the palate is rich, slightly spicy but incredibly fresh. A delicious Rose which could be treated more like a red with the capacity to age however it is drinking beautifully right now. Future Unicorn!

Gut Oggau is a 14 hectare Austrian wine estate located in the province of Burgenland by the Lake Neusiedl. The estate is run by Eduard Tscheppe and his wife Stephanie, daughter of a 2 Michelin star restaurant owner. It is a certified biodynamic estate with each wine coming from a single plot of vines with different terroirs showing different expressions in the wine. The individual personalities of the wine are expressed in the faces on the labels created by Jung von Matt (German designer) and brought together in the Gut Oggau family tree. A unique and fascinating way of describing the wines, they taste every bit as intriguing as the labels suggest.

One of only a handful left in the world right here! Magma is Frank's top Cuvee, produced annually in quantities of 500-1500 bottles. Some years, if the ripeness of the grapes is not deemed absolutely perfect, it isn't made at all.  Of all the vineyards, Magma comes from the highest at just over 900 metres above sea level and is made from ungrafted Nerello Mascalese vines that are over 100 years old. The end result for the 2017 is a wine that brims the energy and tension that these mineral-rich volcanic soils provide alongside deep plummy and dark stone fruit notes.

Great investment wine or one for a super special occasion!

Declared "Best Winemaker of 2018" by the Revue du Vin de France, Jean-Francois Ganevat is a pretty deal. His meticulousness and attention to detail can't be beaten, and his unique knack for unlocking all the nuances of the terroir in his wine is genuinely awe-inspiring. His 8 hectares vineyard in the Jura only grows the most exceptional fruits with the grapevines used for his wines averaging around 50 years old.

The Cuvée Madelon is a ruby, intense red cherry and liquorice Red which is so complex even our resident wine writer has trouble giving it its dues. We found when first tasting the wine it starts off a little edgy but after its left to breathe, it keeps developing rounds and rounds of different flavours. A proper conversation starter, this one.

UNICORN! This pure Nerello Mascalese comes from Frank's ungrafted vineyard in Contrada Zottorinoto. More specifically in the section Chiusa Spagnola, situated lower in the valley floor, a bit hidden in an amphitheater surrounded by lava! A truly unique vineyard, planted around 1925 at a lower altitude (620m. asl) producing a profound, tannic wine, a bit more backward and Nebbiolo-ish compared to his other crus and lighter in colour.

The CS to us is the most fruity out of the Cru's; vibrant and beautifully fruity tones of wild strawberry and raspberry, open to an intriguing spicy mashup. Fresh and juicy, it boasting bright acidity, fine tannins, and deepness.

We believe it's one of 8 left in Europe.
