Now Moldova isn't the first country we think of when thinking about low intervention/natural wine bangers, however, that all changed when we tasted this insanely delicious wine from Other World Wines! Jumi Juma 2023 is a refreshing Chardonnay & Riesling blend that comes together for a low-intervention expression of the southern hills of Moldova, from where it hails. A daring mix of rich Chardonnay and acidic, racy Riesling, it serves as proof that outstanding quality, good value wines still exist - everyone is just looking in the wrong places
The wine is made by Chateau Cristi nestled in a designated ecological zone in the South of Moldova. It‘s a region of rolling hills, fruit orchards, and of course vineyards. The area has been producing spectacular wine for thousands of years. The winery owners, Constantin and his brother-in-law, Roman, adopt a low-intervention approach to winemaking. They believe that their wines should be a raw representation of the climate and terroir, and so seek to alter the wine as little as possible. They are currently going through the process of organic conversion.
