The Subirat Parent is a near-extinct grape variety that pretty much no other producer touches, but these wine wizards. Farmed organically, fermented with wild yeasts, and unfiltered, it’s a light-bodied burst of sweet grapefruit, lemon peel, creme fraiche, and sour mash with a lightly tannic texture, not unlike cold tea and a featherweight 10% alcohol.
Partida Creus is the project of two Italians (Massimo and Antonella) who now produce just south of Barcelona in the Tarragona region. The thought process of the PC project was to work with historical and forgotten local varietals that in many cases were not recognised by the D.O. of the area: Penedès. The pair worked tirelessly for years buying up tiny plots of abandoned vineyards scattered around the area where mostly unknown varietals such as Garrut, Vinyater, Samsó and Queixal de Llop grew. The project has constantly produced banger after banger, all of which have a very distinctive house style - raw, natural and pungent reds, and funky, fresh, expressive whites.
