World Exclusive! We were lucky enough to raid the private collection of ex-Tillingham winemaker and all-around legend Ben Walgate recently, and oh my did we dig out some unicorns!
Tillinghams Qveri Orange has long been one of our favourites and we grabbed the 2019 and 2020 from Ben's private stash.
The 2019 is pale golden orange colour, slightly hazy. Citrus peel, stone fruit and salinity on the nose, lead onto a zesty, vibrant palate, with layers of texture and a persistent finish. 9% ABV and made with Bacchus 25%, Müller Thurgau 25%, Madeleine Angevine (MA) 25%, Ortega 25%
2020 is a fresh and fun orange wine with a four-way split of grapes fermented and aged in barrel and foudre for a short time to bring texture and depth. Citrus rind and stone fruit lead the way, with some saline notes as well.
