Like a little skin contact? A sucker for some funk? In our latest Nat Pack™ we've clubbed together 3 of the best Orange Wines on the market right now that are perfect whether you're an Orange wine veteran or a newbie looking to see what all the fuss is about.
First up is a brand new signing here at Juiced, Pop 2020 from I Love Monsters. Don’t be fooled by Pop 2020's humble packaging, this Verdicchio’s scare power lies in its ability to catch you unawares. A frightfully moreish meeting of marzipan, tropicals, a titch of bitterness, and acid that won’t back down, the goosebumps it delivers are more addictive than a Hitchcock classic. Fresh off the plane from Marche, Italy, we’re welcoming a little culture shock..
Producer: Tenuta di Tavignano
Region: Marche, Italy
One of our all-time favourites up next, Mare e Foresta from Valentina Passalacqua. Mare e Foresta is a clean, crisp, and top draw skin-macerated Pinot Grigio, technically an orange wine, that comes in a big ass 1 litre bottle of liquid sunshine. Tastes like grapefruit/passion fruit green tea topped off with a seawater float and a finish as clean as they come. No added So2, biodynamic certification, an adorable label designed by Valentina’s young daughters, and just 10% ABV. A killer wine for spring, summer.... and all year round to be honest..
Last up is an Orange wine from Renegade, Araceli. Pinot Grigio, but not as you know it. The Grapes are grown in Pfalz, Germany, hand-harvested then shipped by Renegade in refrigerated trucks at 2˚C direct to their London winery where they spend two weeks on skins, a little time in new French oak, and then ferments in stainless steel. So what's it like, we hear you ask. Well, it's an Orange Wine with the structure and style of a Red, It is a really complex, unusual wine that has notes of white pepper, cherry, vanilla, cloves, and a real wild strawberry-ness when it starts to open up. She's got a lightly tannic yet soft structure but is really well-rounded and changes constantly as you drink her.
Region: Pflaz, Germany/Bethnal Green, London
Grapes: Pinot Grigio
