A blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cesanese from 40 years old south-east facing vineyards. The grapes are fermented on the skins for 24 hours, followed by pressing in hydraulic press. The base wine is made sparkling with the addition of late harvest Cesanese grapes harvested towards the end of October. The wines is disgorged by hand in May. The Rosafante or ‘Pink Elephant’ represents a wine with a multiform soul combining beautiful crunchy fruit and savoury notes. Think crunchy sour cherry, dried cranberries, scrubbed herbs, violets and leather.
Sete (Italian for "Thirst") is a small three-person crew out of the Amaseno Valley, about an hour out of Rome. Emiliano Giorgi, Arcangelo Galuppi and Martina D’alessio are endeavouring to revive old local vineyards left to rack and ruin during an economic downturn in their region. Young heads servicing old vines, making wines without any additions in the vineyard or the cellar. Exciting times and exciting wines emerging. Some unique stuff here. Jump in. Here's a wild one out of their stable. Flora is a skinsy white/orange wine made from Moscato di Terracina. Half the fruit was fermented using carbonic maceration (typically a red wine fermentation technique used in Beaujolais), the other half spent five days on skins gathering colour and tannin. It's floral yet rich and savoury all at once. Strap in, this is a wild ride
