Le Coste, SOS Lago Rosso 2019
A wine intended to ‘illustrate the beauty of nature and remind us of its fragility if exploited’. It is being sold to raise awareness for and support local farmers and residents that have come together to protest against plans to build an industrial geothermal electricity plant on the banks of Lago di Bolsena. A product of carbonic maceration, with its delicate notes of red fruits and rose water, this lithe, fragrant take on Aleatico is incredibly invigorating.
The Le Coste duo are Clementine Bouveron and Gianmarco Antonuzzi who met in France while working for the guru Gerard Schueller in Alsace, France. The pair spent over 2 years working with some of France’s most renowned producers before deciding to move back to Gianmarco’s village of Gradoli in Lazio’s north. Since moving back the pair have reinvigorated local grapes and are now making some of the most respected and original wines in the Natural Wine game.
