First up is Montagnes Bleues 2eme Mise 2019 from Mas Foulaquier, a true and vibrant expression of Grenache and the land from which it comes from. The wild perfume explodes from the glass and the palate has such beautiful purity of dark fruit flavours.
Producer: Mas Foulaquier
Region: Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Grapes: Grenache Noir
9 Is Enough Orange 2021 is up next from Valentina Passalacqua. Falanghina grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in open vats with 8 days skin contact completely unfiltered and as natural as they come. A wine that oozes aromas of Orange Fanta and Vanilla while on the palate, it's a more exotic affair, with pineapple, mango, and some orange peel notes.
Region: Moselle Valley, Germany
Grapes: Pinot Noir
Here is one of our favourite Orange wines of all time, Renard 2021 from Domaine Muller-Koeberle. The wine delivers on so many fronts, a label up there with the best we've seen and designed by local tattoo artist 'Gypsy King' but more so on an incredible flavour-filled journey from the first sip to the last. On the nose, it's all perfumed grapefruit which moves on to a more deep and complex tropical foray with Pineapple, mango, and just a tint of white pepper on the finish. For us, this is the king of Orange Wines!
Producer: Domaine Muller-Koeberle
Region: Alsace, France
Last but by no means least is Freak from I Love Monsters. Freak is one hell of a quality pet nat that combines portions of Malvasia and Sangiovese with old-vine Verdicchio to create these super-fine bubbles. The wine has a fine and mineral feel, with the texture dialed up to 10. Fun drinking here, but plenty going on to make you remember it.
Producer: Tenuta di Tavignano
Region: Marche, Italy
Grapes: Malvasia, Sangiovese, Verdicchio
