A new one from IL Ceo who were the ones behind our favourite red of 2020 (that's just been restocked FYI!) Pirka. Groppea Rosso is from the volcanic hills of Breganze, Mason and Fara Vicentina, 80% Groppella (native red variety) and 20% Vespaiola from old vines planted on flat basalt rich in iron and silex. Carbonic maceration for 25 days in steel tank, co-fermentation without temperature control and 6 months in vats before bottling. Gropella traditionally produces tannic red wines, strong and with a lot of acidity, but the carbonic maceration gives makes this unusually juicy. Overall an energetic light red, full of red summer fruit, a smoky hint and a vibrant minerality. BANGER!!!
