Dubbed as ‘hipster bubbles’, Pétillant Naturel (or Pet Nat for short) is essentially a natural sparkling wine. The majority are naturally made, meaning that the wine has been made with minimal intervention from the winemaker during production, who instead leaves nature to do its job and develop the carbonation and finished product in the bottle.
Given we've had so many new sparklers through the door recently we've rounded up our 3 favourite bubbles for our brand-new Pet Nat Pack.
First up is Pot Luck 2023 from New Theory, a naughty Pet Nat (naturally sparkling using the classic South African grape Pinotage. Grown 500 feet above sea level, in red, coffee-stone soil in the Swartland, the wines full of summer bubbles with ripe red fruits, saline notes, and perfectly balanced bubbles. It's criminal to serve this anything less than ice cold!

Next up is a very special wine, Patrick Bouju Festejar 2021, one of the greats in the Natural Wine movement. A Gamay, Pinot Noir, and Merlot Pet Nat with notes of blackberry and cranberry, with a plummy finish and acidic twang. Dangerously smashable and slightly drier than previous vintages.

Last up is Valentina Passalacqua's Pet Peace Orange 2019. Pet Peace Orange 2019, is made from 100% Pinot Grigio, naturally refermented in the bottle with the ancestral method (Pet Nat). foamy bubbles, beautiful acidity and notes of peach melba, minerality and ultimate drinkability. Serve chilled.
